Long Time Between Drinks

February 12, 2014

Oh my! A long break between blogs this time but there's a good reason why. Kate and I have been on another two buying trip. Only this time we dragged our mum and dad along. You could say milly and eugene is a big extended family enterprise with loads of help and support from all members. It was going to be a rushed trip with a 5 day turn around and so much to do. Our driver, Mr. Wonderful, was at our beck and call everyday and transported us to and from our current suppliers and manufacturers. His driving skills are amazing and he  often has to screech to a halt when we see something from our car window that catches our eye. We are always on the lookout for something new and unique to bring home.

Colour and aesthetic appeal are the things that we look for in a product and with that in mind we have now taken to putting our own design ideas into some of our existing product lines. It's not always easy communicating our ideas to the manufacturers. Language and communication can be a problem. But with the help of Mr. Wonderful, a lot of patience and an awareness of certain cultural sensitivities, we have worked with our suppliers to create a truly beautiful range of new products for your home. We can't wait to share them with you as soon as they arrive.

When thinking about home interiors, like me, you might cringe at the memory of your childhood home. The best version of our family home was new green carpet and a black high-backed vinyl lounge with orange nylon-cushioned seating. My mother was proud of her modern choices and teamed up the “mod look” with a teak extender dining table and a sliding-door settee. The bright green kitchen cupboards and red laminex kitchen table and chairs were all part of the ‘70’s look.

NORTH FACING HOME
NORTH FACING HOME

January 30, 2019

When we married and had our first child, forty years ago, our search began in earnest, for a home; somewhere to raise our family. In those days, it wasn’t unusual to seek out houses for sale in the classified adds of the Sydney newspaper. And that was how we came across our first home. Situated at the bottom of a hill, looking north over the southern headland of Coogee, we loved it the minute we saw it. It wasn’t grand, with one and a half bedrooms and a tiny kitchen and bathroom, but it was perfect for us.  And I remember thinking that I would never again wish for anything more in my life. Well, that noble thought didn’t last long, because over the next five years two more babies came along and we needed more rooms, more space.
