Milly and Eugene spent the weekend with The Grounds of Alexandria. The weather was lovely and there was a great buzz in the air.The Grounds is set in an industrial and heritage-listed warehouse in Sydney’s Alexandria. It is equipped with organic vegetable and herb gardens supplying the kitchen, a bakery, a café, a children’s play area, a takeaway space, chickens, and even a pig called Kevin Bacon.
We were invited to set up a stall and show off our vibrant wares at The Spring Markets. Under the pergola, surrounded by the lovely gardens, chilled tunes, and just a stones throw away from the takeaway coffee cart, life was good.
The sun was out and so were the crowds. At 8am there was a one hour wait for a breakfast table, not that it seemed to upset anyone. With so many things to see and do within the vicinity of the grounds everyone was happy and entertained.
It was a lovely chance for us to meet customers and get some great feedback. Everyone seemed to be impressed by our bright, eye catching stall. And for us, apart from our 5am wake up call, the weekend seemed a lot more like fun than hard work.
When thinking about home interiors, like me, you might cringe at the memory of your childhood home. The best version of our family home was new green carpet and a black high-backed vinyl lounge with orange nylon-cushioned seating. My mother was proud of her modern choices and teamed up the “mod look” with a teak extender dining table and a sliding-door settee.The bright green kitchen cupboards and red laminex kitchen table and chairs were all part of the ‘70’s look.
