Ceramic Shoot

September 22, 2013

It's always a fun day when it's shoot day at Milly and Eugene. We have had a bit of practice with them now, so we know the drill. Our morning started at 8.30am, to get in early, making use of the beautiful natural light, in our go to studio (aka window ledge in Hailey's house).

We were shooting our brand new beautiful hand made ceramics. They arrived last week and it was a pretty hectic day of unpacking our second container and housing the new products. But the reward of shooting the product was well worth the hours of lifting and shredded paper we had to sort through.

Our morning was off to a good start, with the abundance of freshly cut flowers and dozens of sweet cakes from our favourite cupcake bakery in Sydney, My Little Cupcake, Neutral Bay. We spent most of the day until mid afternoon, shooting the detail in each product, arranging posies for our vases and styling the dinner wear to show off it's beauty and individuality.

Once the afternoon hit, it was time for the fun to begin. We headed over to my house and began setting up our garden party, in order to shoot at dusk. The table was sprawled with colour and the dim light, made for such a romantic setting. Hailey and I, clowned around (as usual) as we tried to act cool in front of the camera. For those of you that know us, know that we love to have a photo, but when it comes down to business we are extremely awkward and very nervous.

The night ended at around 7 o'clock, with pizza, beers and cupcakes for dessert. It had been a long and tiring day, but the pictures we have captured, tell of a day of fun and quality product.

Can't wait to share them with you all.

When thinking about home interiors, like me, you might cringe at the memory of your childhood home. The best version of our family home was new green carpet and a black high-backed vinyl lounge with orange nylon-cushioned seating. My mother was proud of her modern choices and teamed up the “mod look” with a teak extender dining table and a sliding-door settee. The bright green kitchen cupboards and red laminex kitchen table and chairs were all part of the ‘70’s look.

NORTH FACING HOME
NORTH FACING HOME

January 30, 2019

When we married and had our first child, forty years ago, our search began in earnest, for a home; somewhere to raise our family. In those days, it wasn’t unusual to seek out houses for sale in the classified adds of the Sydney newspaper. And that was how we came across our first home. Situated at the bottom of a hill, looking north over the southern headland of Coogee, we loved it the minute we saw it. It wasn’t grand, with one and a half bedrooms and a tiny kitchen and bathroom, but it was perfect for us.  And I remember thinking that I would never again wish for anything more in my life. Well, that noble thought didn’t last long, because over the next five years two more babies came along and we needed more rooms, more space.
